Welcome to the Belleville Lawn Bowling Club. Early in the 1900, there was the Belleville Gentleman's Lawn Bowling Club. Then in 1910, the ladies formed a separate club. In those days, men and women didn't play together.
The Gentleman's Club was originally located on William Street, then moved to its current Yeomans Street site in 1932. The clubs operate separately until the 1980s when the ladies merged with the men to become the Belleville Lawn Bowling Club. Since the early 1900s our members have been enjoying competitive lawn bowling and having great fun doing it for the past 85 years at our current beautiful location at 40 Yeomans Street, Belleville. This site will tell you all you need to know about the lawn bowling in Belleville.
Lawn bowling is a sport that can be enjoyed by all ages. At Belleville we currently have about 40 - 50 members. It is a sport that you can start at any age and it is never too late to take up the game. It is fun and enjoyable.
We bowl from early May to late September. Club events - known as jitneys - are the staple of the club and are friendly competitions held three times a week. We hold jitney games during the mornings and evenings. The level of competition also varies. Just turn up and teams are made up at random. Then there are Open Tournaments which are open to any bowler affiliated to the Ontario Lawn Bowls Association. We therefore provide something for all abilities.
In 2015 the club is celebrating 115 years for the Men and 105 years for the Women.
